At Okanagan Lifestyle, sustainability isn’t about perfection, it’s about intention.

We believe in making thoughtful, practical choices in everyday life and business. The kind that reduce waste, keep products in use longer, and support a more circular way of living. Our approach is rooted in progress over perfection, guided by care for this place we call home and the community within it.

Below are a few of the ways we’re working to tread a little lighter, every day.

Bag Exchange Program

In addition to offering recyclable bags for purchase, we host a shared collection of reusable bags in-store that anyone can take, free of charge.

Have extras at home? Bring them in. We’ll happily add them to the mix so they can continue circulating through the community — just as they should.

Reused Shipping Boxes

Whenever possible, shipping boxes that arrive at our shop in good condition are reused for both individual and wholesale orders.

It’s a simple practice, but one that meaningfully reduces the need for new materials and keeps perfectly good boxes in use a little longer.

Compostable Shipping Materials

Our soft mailers, tissue paper, and tissue stickers are all home compostable. Once they’ve done their job protecting your order, they can go straight back to the earth.

No landfill required.

Recycling & Waste Sorting

In-store, we maintain a robust recycling and waste-sorting system that includes bottles and cans, soft plastics, cardboard, glass, and more.

Everything is carefully sorted to divert as much material as possible away from landfill and back into proper recycling streams.

Food Waste Diversion

Any food waste generated on-site is processed using a Lomi countertop composter and transformed into nutrient-rich material.

That compost then finds its way into our personal gardens — closing the loop from table to soil.

Buyback Program

We design our pieces to last season after season, adventure after adventure.

When you’re ready to part with a pre-loved Okanagan Lifestyle piece, bring it back to us. We’ll buy it back so it can continue its story with a new friend, extending its life and reducing waste along the way.

Renewable Energy

We’re proud to be enrolled in FortisBC’s Renewable Natural Gas program, which means a portion of the energy we use comes from biogases created through landfills, agricultural waste, and wastewater treatment.

It’s one more step toward reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and investing in lower-impact energy sources.

Moving Forward, Together

Sustainability is a journey, one we’re committed to learning from, growing into, and evolving alongside our community. We’re always exploring ways to do better, and we’re grateful to share the path with people who care as deeply about this place as we do.
